چکیده

In bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.), kernel parameters are significant grain quality characteristics that affect yield and milling as well market price. Utilization of synthetic hexaploid donor to harness the diverse alleles for broadening genetic base is a novel breeding strategy programs across globe. An experiment was conducted during winter (rabi) season 2017–18 2018–19 at research farm ICAR-Indian Agricultural Research Institute, New Delhi evaluate 188 recombinant inbred lines (RILs) which were derived from HD 2932 (Indian cultivar) Synthetic 46 (Syn 46: donor) identify effect on parameters. Kernel like length (KL), width (KW), thickness (KT) thousand weight (TKW) studied. Syn had larger kernels high TKW with respect 2932. Significant variation all traits observed in population transgressive segregants. this RILs (188) KL ranged 5.13–7.5 mm, KW 2.26–3.9 KT 2.57–3.41 25.2–53.17 g. Correlation analysis showed positive correlation KT. Potential identified desirable allelic combinations may be used future programs, contrasting create nested further generation variability.

Factors Affecting the Radiosensitivity of Hexaploid Wheat to γ-Irradiation: Radiosensitivity of Hexaploid Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.)

Understanding the radiosensitivity of plants, an important factor in crop mutation breeding programs, requires a thorough investigation of the factors that contribute to this trait. In this study, we used the highly radiosensitive wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) variety HY1 and J411, a γ-irradiation-insensitive control, which were screened from a natural population, to examine the factors affectin...

Transfer of Soft Kernel Texture from Triticum aestivum to Durum Wheat, Triticum turgidum ssp. durum

Durum wheat (Triticum turgidum ssp. durum) is a leading cereal grain whose primary use is the production of semolina and pasta. Its rich culinary relationship to humans is related, in part, to its very hard kernel texture. This very hard texture is due to the loss of the Puroindoline genes that were eliminated during the allopolyploid formation of T. turgidum approximately 0.5 million years ago...

Genetic Diversity and Population Structure Analysis of European Hexaploid Bread Wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) Varieties

Progress in plant breeding is facilitated by accurate information about genetic structure and diversity. Here, Diversity Array Technology (DArT) was used to characterize a population of 94 bread wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) varieties of mainly European origin. In total, 1,849 of 7,000 tested markers were polymorphic and could be used for population structure analysis. Two major subgroups of whe...
